We know sharing family details takes trust — here's exactly how we handle it.
1. What we collect
Guardian accounts hold an email address and optional phone number. Rishta profiles hold the candidate details a guardian chooses to submit: name, date of birth, contact information, education, family background, preferences, and optionally photographs. Payment submissions hold a bank transfer reference and receipt image.
2. What other users can see
Browsing families see a profile's registrar code (such as SR-00012), city, and general background — never the candidate's name, phone number, email address, or photographs. Those private details are revealed only to the one family on the other side of a proposal, and only after both families have consented by reaching the contact-sharing stage. Photos and contact details are never included in browse listings or search results.
3. How photographs are protected
Uploaded photographs are stored privately and served only through permission-checked pages — they have no public web address. Staff may view photographs solely for moderation purposes.
4. What we never do
We do not sell or share your information with advertisers or third parties. We do not use candidate information for any purpose other than operating the matchmaking service you signed up for.
5. Removing your information
A guardian may deactivate or delete a Rishta profile at any time from their dashboard. To delete a guardian account and all associated data, contact our support team and the request will be processed within 30 days.
